I haven’t been to a baseball game in years that didn’t prominently feature signs with some variation of “WARNING: Bats and Balls May Leave Field of Play.” They seem to have taken to heart the dangers of spectating so close to the field of play in a high-level sport. Football, however, has turned the sidelines into a bumper boats exhibit as soon as a player crosses the white lines. Fans are everything, and one poor woman paid for her sideline pass with a kickoff to the face at the LSU vs. Auburn game tonight.
Watch as she tries to field the kickoff, only to be KO’d.
That’s just brutal. No bounce. No buffers. She took the full brunt of a college kickoff off the snout and immediately resigned into a sprawl behind the endzone. The ball didn’t even go five yards from the woman after impact. That’s one hell of a softening blow.
Despite all of the signs pointing to a rough night, a local LSU reporter caught up with the girl later on and confirmed she was still alive and breathing. Sadly, if the football only maimed her, the stress at that game’s end, despite the win, may have been enough to do her in as an Auburn fan.
