The uses of marijuana in the medical industry appear to be expanding yet again. Already having uses to treat Glaucoma, control seizures, and relieve anxiety, a company called Foria, operating in California and Colorado, has found yet another new use for it: treating the symptoms of menstruation. The company has actually developed tampons which contain 60mg of THC and 10mg of CBD (Cannabidoil), two oils extracted from cannabis plants.
From Foria’s website:
Users have reported a significant decrease in the pain and discomfort often associated with menstruation. The cannabinoids directly impact the immune system and the nerve endings of the uterus, cervix, ovaries and surrounding smooth muscle tissues [1,2]. THC positively affects the nerves and assists in blocking out pain while also allowing for more pleasant signals to be received by the brain . CBD works in the immune system by suppressing the mechanisms responsible for inflammation . CBD also slows down electrical signaling to muscles and allows them to relax, thereby reducing cramping .
Foria requires that you be either a California or Colorado resident and also must have a medical marijuana card in order to purchase their products. Oh, and by the way, the company also makes “pleasure sprays” for women. The testimonials on their website all claim outstanding results, however, being a male and neither a resident of The Golden State or Colorado, I cannot attest to the success or lack thereof when it comes to these products. If you are a girl and feel like expanding your marijuana horizons, this company may be right up your vagina.
I will have to admit, I never thought I’d see the day where females are spraying themselves with Cannabis oil and inserting weed-laced tampons inside them in order to combat the effects of periods. What a time to be alive..
