From WRAL Sports Fan:
Wake Forest radio broadcaster Tommy Elrod has been fired after a university investigation found he shared confidential information related to game preparation on multiple occasions, dating back to 2014, the athletics department announced Tuesday.
Elrod is also banned from all WFU athletics and its facilities.
The investigation found that Elrod “provided or attempted to provide confidential and proprietary game preparations on multiple occasions, starting in 2014,” based on multiple forms of communication including emails, text messages and phone records.
So this is a wild story. The conversation in the office after this story dropped is how differently this asshole is going to be treated by the Wake Forest community compared to how it would all go down if the radio guy for, say, Alabama were to try and sell confidential game information to Auburn or LSU.
At Wake Forest, you’re fired and publicly shamed. At Bama, or even an Ohio State or FSU or any school that takes football very seriously, this guy would need the equivalent of mafia-style witness protection. I’m talking new name, new home in the ‘burbs across the country, a wig and facial reconstruction surgery, and 24-hour personal security.
If Bama fans were to get their hands on a guy who wronged them like this, he’d be chained to the trailer hitch of an F-250 and dragged through the streets Tuscaloosa.
Be lucky it’s just Wake Forest, Tommy Elrod. Scumbag..
