The world’s most wanted terrorist, and public enemy number one to the United States of America, is dead. Navy Seals (FaF) executed an operation in Pakistan resulting in the killing of Osama Bin Laden. Yesterday, President Obama addressed the nation to give the good news, remembering 9/11 and the countless acts of violence and terrorism that the finally deceased evil bastard had committed. Raging commenced, and celebrations lasted deep into the night- some still haven’t stopped (I haven’t stopped). USA chants broke out in libraries across the country as people studying for finals said fuck it and sprinted for the door to join their brothers and sisters in a show of American unity. As news spread via social media, word of mouth, and text message, a USA chant broke out at the New York Mets/Phillies game, as well:
Personally, I needed two cases of beer, one for drinking and the other reserved only for repeat beer showers during the playing of Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless the USA,” “Proud to Be an American,” and our nation’s National Anthem. When the level of raging subsided, I sat drinking bourbon on one of the front porch swings at the frat castle, reflecting on the momentous achievements of the men (and women) in uniform who fight around the world ensuring American freedom is protected, and I was reminded of W’s 9/11 Bullhorn Speech:
As American’s we should thank God every single day that we live in a country where freedom is valued above all else. Taking down Bin Laden was a day that we’ll remember for the rest of our lives. May he burn in hell. WE GOT HIM! Now let’s fucking rage!
