Hey you. You there, reading this on the toilet. Have you ever wanted to get your hands on a $220,000 piece of advanced military hardware from the greatest fighting force in human history for pennies on the dollar?
Of course you have. Well, it’s finally time to live out your dream.
The US government is having a massive sell-off of decommissioned Humvees. Sure, they come with no title and an official designation of “off road only,” but the price is definitely right: an average of $7-8000, with some even in the low thousands.
The sell-off is hosted on GovPlanet, a major re-seller auction site for surplus property. And boy, it’s a fire sale. Almost 3,800 Humvees have already been snapped up by eager buyers, with only about 230 of the demilitarized vehicles left. All you have to do is bid, sign, and get a flatbed to haul that beast home.
This is a no-brainer investment for you. I bought a couple of unusual vehicles in college, including a golf cart, a school bus, and an old limousine, but nothing could possibly match the thrill of cruising around campus in a tank’s little brother (except maybe cruising around your campus in an actual tank; I’ll have to get back to you on that). Don’t think about the lack of title being a huge deterrent, either; the friendly folks at your local DMV offer many options for titling “reconstructed” and replica vehicles for on-road use. Loopholes abound.

Go get em, Chief..
