I heard some news this morning that reaffirmed my love for my alma mater, the University of Wisconsin-Madison. And let me tell you, I haven’t been this proud to be a Badger since that time a UW professor put his dong on a powerpoint slide and showed it to his students.
From Huffington Post:
The University of Wisconsin-Madison is ranked the top party school in the nation in the annual rankings released Monday by the Princeton Review.
Following the Badgers, West Virginia University and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign came in at Nos. 2 and 3, respectively. It’s the first time in a decade that UW-Madison took the top slot in the party school ranking. Illinois took the top spot last year.
Princeton Review, which publishes an annual guide to picking and preparing for colleges, has ranked the top party schools since 1993. The rankings are based on student surveys distributed to 143,000 students at 381 colleges.
Yup. For the first time since 2006, my beloved alma mater has achieved the pinnacle of completely subjective success — being named the top party school in America by Princeton Review. Just a couple short months after my coworker Harrison named Wisco the #2 party school in the country, remarking that they “only didn’t get the number one spot because fellow TFM writer Jared Borislow went there and I don’t want to give him that satisfaction,” the truth has finally been set free. We have taken back what is ours — the pride that comes with saying “my school goes harder than yours” (and the accompanying applications from douchebag high school tryhards everywhere).
From my point of view, that of an alumnus who attended Wisconsin in between its two most recent top party school tenures, there are two ways of looking at it. On one hand, I can say I laid the groundwork for this victory. That my presence helped restore us to our former glory. On the other hand, what if I was what was holding us back? Would we have reclaimed top dog status sooner had I not attended UW-Madison?
Eat shit and fuck you, everyone else — Wisco’s on top. Roll Badge..
