The former Disney Channel star, who declared on Twitter last winter that he was no longer famous (which, in turn, made him more famous) went all out for his role in “Fury,” a World War II film set to be released on Oct. 17. According to one of his co-stars, who had an interview published in the British version of GQ magazine, LaBeouf cut his face with a knife to make his war wounds look more realistic.
“We were in make-up and they were putting cuts on Shia and I said, ‘Yeah, yeah, it looks good.’ And Shia was like, ‘No, it doesn’t look real’,” he said.
“Then he walks out into the hallway and says, ‘Hey man, wanna see something fun? Check this out…’ and he takes out a knife and cuts his face. And for the whole movie he kept opening these cuts on his face. That’s all real.”
On one hand, you have to commend him for his unparalleled commitment to the role. That’s some next-level method acting. He wanted to make the character look as realistic as possible, and he didn’t believe that there was enough room in the $80 million budget to do that. So, he grabbed his knife and started self-mutilating in the name of art.
But on the other (more rational) hand, LaBeouf is a straight up psychopath. Why potentially damage your movie star face for a movie that probably isn’t all that good? Just read the lines and collect your paycheck, dude. Anything else is above and beyond the call of duty. Don’t believe this guy is nutty? Watch this video of LaBeouf staring down a random motorcyclist at an intersection.
Yeah, he’s lost it. It’s hilarious, though. Just imagine the talent potential of a LaBeouf-Amanda Bynes offspring. Child stardom would never be the same again..
