The front of the Alpha Epsilon Pi house at Temple University sustained serious damage when a vehicle slammed into it early Monday morning. Police suspect the driver was already involved in a hit-and-run earlier in the night. The damage from that accident caused his vehicle to lose a wheel and veer into the house.
The driver is currently in the hospital. No word yet on his condition. No one else inside or around the house was harmed.
From NBC Philadelphia:
Police said a car driving down North Broad Street somehow lost a wheel then lost control and plowed into the frat house of Alpha Epsilon Pi, on Broad Street near Norris. AEPi is the university’s Jewish fraternity.
The car’s driver went to Temple University Hospital for treatment. There was no immediate word on the person’s condition.
The car struck the house’s front steps and a small porch in front of the house, causing the concrete and stone on the steps to crumble beneath it.
Police said they believe the car was involved in a hit-and-run crash elsewhere in the city, took off from that scene and then crashed at Temple. They were still investigating about 8:30 a.m. where that first crash may have taken place.
Police have not announced any charges.
A reader sent TFM some photos of the damage. The front stoop is completely obliterated.
Just a bad time for university buildings. Last month, some drunken fucktard slammed into a wall on the historic horseshoe at the University of South Carolina.
While a DUI hasn’t been confirmed for the Temple AEPi crash, we all know what this is. Don’t drink and drive. Don’t. Drink. And. Drive. Don’t consume alcohol and then operate a motor vehicle. Don’t do it. Don’t..
