Arguments can get pretty heated between guys. I once witnessed two friends nearly go to blows over the simple argument of who was better in college, Vince Young or Reggie Bush (hint: VY was, and got robbed of the Heisman). It’s in our nature to always be right, so we go to dire lengths to win an argument. The Michael Jordan versus LeBron James debate is a popular one.
Early Saturday morning, two Penn State roommates — most likely drunk since the incident occurred at three in the morning — got into a debate over the two players. One of the roommates, Daniel Mondelice, wasn’t too happy with his roommate’s opinion on who was best, so he did the logical thing and beat his ass.
From The Collegian:
A debate over who is the best basketball player of all time, LeBron James or Michael Jordan, became heated early Saturday morning, and resulted in felony charges of aggravated assault and criminal trespassing for a State College man.
At 3:49 a.m. Saturday, Daniel Mondelice, 22, and his roommate began the argument at their Calder Commons apartment, 520 E. Calder Way, the State College Police Department said.
After physically assaulting his roommate, Mondelice was charged with aggravated assault, terroristic threats and simple assault, police said.
Jesus, man. I realize the dude didn’t agree with you, but to beat the shit out of him, and make terroristic threats might be taking it a tad bit too far. Daniel was not allowed to return to the apartment except to retrieve his things with a police escort. He stayed with some other people where his aggressive nature took over again after staying longer than they wanted him to.
When Mondelice overstayed his welcome, they asked him to leave, police said, at which point he became verbally insulting and aggressive.
The women called the police at about 6:33 p.m. Saturday, prompting Mondelice to leave, police said. Police picked him up later and charged him with criminal trespassing and harassment.
My guess is that Daniel was arguing for LeBron because an MJ supporter doesn’t need to go to blows to know that MJ is, and will always be, the greatest. The dude did “Space Jam,” after all..
