OU’s Backup QB Arrested After Passing Out Drunk, Wrestling With Cop

======= ======= ====== ====== ====== ===== ==== ====== ====== ===== ==== ======= ======= ====== ====== ====== ===== ==== ====== ====== ===== ====

One minute you’re the backup QB for a top tier football program, enjoying time off after spring football practice, living the life as the BMOC, drinking at parties and fighting chicks off left and right, then the next thing you know you’re being woken up on a hill at two in the morning and Stone Cold Steve Austin in a cop uniform has you in a spinning arm bar. Week ruined.

University of Oklahoma quarterback Kendal Thompson was arrested for public intoxication and interference in the early hours of Friday morning. He was arrested four days before his 21st birthday, so I’m thinking this was a celebratory culmination of his 21st and One World Trade Center reaching 1,776 ft. today. Just bad timing is all. Coulda happened to anyone.

From SoonerScoop:

According to the arresting affidavit, Norman police officer Steven Boxford and another officer were responding to a loud party complaint at 730 Stinson St. when Boxford spotted Thompson lying on a hill on his right side and snoring.

After identifying himself to Thompson, Boxford shined a light in his face to wake him. The officer could smell alcohol coming from Thompson’s person and breath, according to the affidavit.

Thompson, 20, is four days from his 21st birthday.

“As I was speaking with him, he was not making sense with incomplete sentences and was becoming harder to understand him,” said Boxford in the affidavit.

After Thompson awoke, the officer said he rolled into a sitting position. Boxford told him to remain seated “many times”. Thompson eventually stood again with his hand in his left pocket and did not sit down.

“He continued not to obey commands and I grabbed his right arm and completed a spinning arm bar to take the defendant to the ground,” said Boxford in the affidavit. “Once on the ground, the defendant continued to fail to obey commands to put his hands behind his back and get on his stomach.”

Lace ’em up, Kendal. You have a meeting with the visor.
