Oklahoma State Football Might Be Screwed

======= ======= ====== ====== ====== ===== ==== ====== ====== ===== ==== ======= ======= ====== ====== ====== ===== ==== ====== ====== ===== ====

The latest round of NCAA controversy roulette has landed on Oklahoma State. Allegations of academic impropriety, rampant drug use, cash-filled briefcases, and sexy sex arrangements date back to the days when Les Miles was calling the shots in Stillwater.

The Oklahoman reports that a currently unpublished Sports Illustrated investigation will reveal the following about the transgressions of the OSU program from 2001 to 2007:

* Coaches and boosters paying athletes, including violations ranging from paying for jobs not performed, overpaying for jobs and strictly paying players for performance.
DeForest is accused of running a bonus program – paying players for specific plays – as recently as 2011.

* An environment of academic impropriety, from players not attending class to grade changing to tutors doing work for players.

* Widespread drug abuse and a drug policy that isn’t uniformly administered.

* Hostesses in the Orange Pride program providing sex to recruits.

Hot damn, T. Boone Pickens.

The narcotic, payment, and skipping class part shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone who’s remotely familiar with major college institutions. I’m pretty sure the NCAA calls that bundle of allegations the “economy package.” It’s that last allegation that adds a little spit shine to the controversy, the one that upgrades the scandal to “full-serve.”

We’ll see how this all unfolds over the next few days. In the meantime, I’m super jealous of all those guys. Could’ve been me, man. Totally could’ve gone D-1 if it wasn’t for an old knee injury acting up.
