In response to the United States planning to set up a missile defense system over South Korea, China and North Korea have denounced us heavily in recent days.
From The Daily Caller:
On Friday, Seoul and Washington released their plan to deploy the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) system in South Korea to help combat growing threats from the North.
According to the statement, North Korea’s military, which has “sufficient latest offensive strike means,” will take “more merciless and powerful successive corresponding measures against the US keen to ignite a war by deploying THAAD.”
The U.S. announced its decision to deploy THAAD just hours after an angry response from Pyongyang regarding sanctions against Kim Jong Un and other North Korean leaders for human rights abuses, an action the Foreign Ministry said was tantamount to an act of war.
We’ve seen this type of rhetoric from North Korea time and time again, but the one thing in common to every instance of this is that the good old DPRK has never once followed up on any of their threats. According to friends and family of mine that have lived in South Korea, most of the people there don’t pay much attention to the North at all, and simply continue their lives as normal in the face of these apocalyptic threats.
I think we’ve got something to learn from our friends in South Korea. Much like the angry, immature, and neckbearded TFM commenter, North Korea is a troll that only seeks to be fed time and time again. It could be that the best way to deal with them is to pay no regard to their aggressive ramblings.
Props to the U.S. military for giving the missile defense system one of the douchiest names possible, as doing so will ensure that it will be all the more humiliating when a cruise missile is stopped by a defense system named THAAD..
