Michigan’s coaching staff should be a bit more careful while “attacking every day with an enthusiasm unknown to mankind.” The Wolverines hosted an annual summer recruiting event two weekends ago aptly named “BBQ at the Big House.” A sizable collection of top uncommitted prospects joined Michigan players and commits for a day of good food, campus tours, and academic presentations. It seems logical then that a highly touted Wolverine four-star commit would receive a thank you letter from the Michigan staff for his attendance, right?

Except Aubrey Solomon didn’t actually taste Harbaugh’s home cooking, unable to attend due to the Georgia High School football season starting that weekend. The Wolverine staff sent him a letter to his home anyway, though it’s unclear if it was actually intended for Solomon, as both his first and last names were misspelled. He’s now a former Michigan commit.

From 247 Sports:

“A day or two ago, they sent my mom a card thanking us for going to the Michigan bbq, but we never went,” Solomon said. “I do not know which recruit they were talking to, but it was not me. It was just a little heartbreaking, for me to supposedly be so high on their list, for them to confuse me with someone else. Plus they spelled both of my names wrong after I told them, but that was not the main issue. I guess they do not have tabs on me.”

Solomon was considered the gem of what has been a less than fruitful summer on the recruiting trail for Harbaugh and his cronies, languishingly in the shadow of the historic class taking shape in Columbus, already featuring a staggering six composite five-star recruits. Michigan, though the most popular national championship wager due to…well I can’t think of a good reason aside from their wealthy and totally delusional fan base, currently is without a single five-star commit as their chief rival compiles an all-star team.

Solomon was likely a tough pull for the Wolverines, as proximity to the University of Georgia and incessant SEC pestering would surely have the Michigan staff working overtime to score his signed letter of intent, but their gross incompetence with a consensus top 15 defensive lineman in the nation comes as an absolute shock with the start of the season just around the corner.

Miss me yet, Wolverine faithful? Quack Quack.
