If you screw up and are subsequently punished, you take the consequences like a man, or so we’re taught. When your specific chapter is already facing national criticism, holding onto the few doubts and positives remaining should take priority. Instead, the men of LSU’s Acacia chapter chose to prove that LSU’s administrators and their national organization made the correct decision by removing them from campus.

Last week, LSU and Acacia’s national office made the decision to remove the chapter from LSU’s campus following allegations of severe hazing. The university gave the chapter house’s residents until April 13 to remove all of their belongings and find other living accommodations, however, according to reports from The Advocate, the men have already begun the process of moving out and destroying the house in the process.

The chapter allegedly hosted a “rage party” Friday night as they entered the final week in their house and spring break began. In the process, the chapter’s members destroyed windows and burned furniture.

While most members declined to be interviewed, several did give anonymous statements to a reporter on scene.

From The Advocate:

Two Acacia members, who declined to give their names, said fellow members caused the damage and added that “everyone was really mad.”

One new member said, “We basically paid dues to get hazed for a semester.”

While the LSU Police Department has inspected the damage, they say no charges can be filed unless the owner of the house chooses to do so. According to an LSU spokesman, the owners are Acacia’s alumni group and housing corporation.
