There are certain signs that college football season is upon us. Polls are released, the talking heads start yelling, and key players get into legal trouble. That’s the case in northern Louisiana, where projected starting QB Ryan Higgins just scored himself a DWI with only days before camp.
From The News Star:
Higgins, a senior, was arrested for DWI and speeding (11 to 20 miles per hour over) just a few days before Tech starts fall camp. Ruston Police Department arrested Higgins at 3:19 a.m. on West Alabama Avenue near campus. He was booked at 5:08 a.m. and has a bond amount of $1,750 ($1,500 for DWI, $250 for speeding).
Higgins was stopped for speeding on West Alabama for traveling 47 miles per hour in a 35 miles per hour zone, according to an affidavit of probable cause.
The officer had reason to believe Higgins was intoxicated, according to the report, and Higgins performed poorly on a standardized field sobriety test and had a blood alcohol content of .119
His mugshot was awesome.
When you need to show coaches that you’re all about making headlines, that mugshot is a game ender. Dude needs to pull a Matt Saracen and open his fucking eyes. Between the unkempt hair and the absent look in his eyelids, my man looks like he just got out of a four-game slide against the SEC West. If I walked into a huddle and saw a face like that, sober or not, I’d have no doubt in my mind that the other team was hanging at least four picks on us.
It looks like this year is going to be par for the course. Between the absolute shitstorm hitting the Big 12, Florida’s inability to decide whether they’re heroes or assholes, and the first of many DWIs hitting the news we’re looking at another exciting season of Law & Order: CFB. Stay tuned to watch Nick Saban big time every allegation and Harbaugh catch some heat for his sleepovers.
It’s kind of a bummer for Louisiana Tech. In 2015, Skip Holtz spurred Jeff Driskel to a stellar 154.1 QBR and Kenneth Dixon was one of the best backs in the nation. Now, with Dixon taking handoffs in Baltimore and their projected starter looking like Jesse Plemmons’ creepier brother, it looks like a serious downward spiral is coming to Shreveport..
