On February 13th, 2016, Antonin Scalia died on a Texas ranch. The details get a little shady about what happened and how he died. The story we’re here to talk about, though, is the secret hunting fraternity that Scalia allegedly joined. No one is certain whether Scalia was actually part of it (he was), but it sounds fucking awesome.
This secret hunting fraternity is apparently called the International Order of St. Hubertus. Great name for a secret hunting society. Just fantastic. Back in 1965 modern Czech Republic, a group of males who shared the same passion of gunning down animals for fun created the group and made the selection process extremely exclusive. One year later, the United States got a chapter. Members don dark green robes with big crosses during initiation (or chapter meetings, not really sure) while chanting “Deum Diligite Animalia Discalialigentes,” translated to “Honoring God by honoring His creatures.” What better way to honor those creatures than by killing them, eating them, and mounting their heads on in your living room?
According to the U.S. Chapter’s website, here is how members are initiated, as well as some of their social events:
The process is culminated in an annual Investiture Ceremony which is the primary social event of the year. Additionally, there are international and regional gatherings such as a Christmas Dinner, luncheons as well as lectures and special presentations.
I need to join this. If it’s the last thing I do on this earth, I will have lived a complete life. Sign me up, throw some green robe on me, and hand me a shotgun. I’ll impress the hell outta these old, rich, white dudes..
