According to TMZ:
Sources connected to Manziel tell us the QB felt like he was being hounded by the other man. We’re told Johnny was adamant he was not the instigator.
But things escalated … and at one point during the altercation Manziel struck the other guy in the face.
We’re told the fight was over almost immediately. We spoke with police who tell us they were NOT called to the hotel that night. We also reached out to Manziel multiple times — so far, no comment.
But get this … the next day, the other guy in the fight got a surprise from room service — a bottle of champagne and a note that read, “Truly apologize. Should have never done that. Know this won’t make it better, but hope it starts the day off alright.”
I’m pretty sour about this story and I’ll tell you why. I knew every detail about it on Saturday afternoon, the day after Johnny dropped the guy. I knew the guy’s name, that he attended SMU, that he’s apparently a total chach, what he said to Johnny, where on his face he was punched, etc. I of course knew all about the bottle of champagne and the apology note, too, and word for word what it said.
My buddy tipped me off. He got the story from a guest of the rehearsal dinner and wedding, and so I had the story in my hands. Every detail. I just couldn’t pull the trigger on it. It wasn’t enough to go on. I needed a pic of the guy’s supposed broken eye socket (yeah, there was a supposed broken eye socket), but my source never came through. What I do have that TMZ doesn’t, however, is an “after” pic of the dude who got dropped.
Note the mention of a black eye in the caption.
According to my source, who is clearly very accurate, the guy pictured above was chirping Johnny all night about being a washed up drug addict and out of the league. Things got heated throughout the rehearsal dinner, then right after, chach meets pavement.
My source also said that “Johnny was probably so cheezed out he just cracked him,” which is neither here nor there but I’m adding it in because “cheezed out” needs to be a thing people say more. And if you’re following Johnny on Snapchat, dude clearly looks cheezed out these days..
UPDATE: And here’s the note.
