You know what the best thing to do when more than 30,000 people are displaced from their homes because of a natural disaster is? Make jokes about how it’s instant karma for voting Republican. (Now former) University of Tampa Ken Storey (@klstorey) figured a tweet of that nature was a good idea and, not surprisingly, was promptly relieved of his duties as a sociology professor at the school.

The irony is just amazing.

From Tampa Bay Times:

Referencing the hurricane, it read: “I dont believe in instant karma but this kinda feels like it for Texas. Hopefully this will help them realize the GOP doesnt care about them.”

In a follow-up, he said that “good people” in red states like Texas and Florida “need to do more to stop the evil their state pushes.” He continued: “I’m only blaming those who support the GOP there.”

As the tweets spread, so did anger. Storey’s name was added to a website called Professor Watchlist, a project to “expose and document college professors who discriminate against conservative students and advance leftist propaganda in the classroom.”

Eventually Storey removed the entire thread, as well as his profile photo. He posted an apology on Monday.

“I never meant to wish ill will upon any group,” he wrote. “I hope all affected by Harvey recover quickly.”

What a pud.

This is a premium dumb tweet. A Tampa professor — where hurricanes happen as often as handshakes — tweets about a hurricane in Houston, where they hit once every blue moon, because the state of Texas voted for Trump, even though the state of Florida also went red in the past election. My…my brain. It hurts. The stupidity is too damn strong. It’s gonna explode.

Not shockingly, numbnuts decided to delete the tweet, then issue an apology tweet, then deleted his Twitter account. Come on, man. If you’re gonna dish it out then have the balls to take the backlash, too. Buck up.

Also not surprising, the University of Tampa fired his ass pretty damn quick. In his defense, though, he teaches sociology. I don’t think the GOP cares about him. It’s got other, less important stuff like business and economics and law to worry about it.
