Help A Medal Of Honor Recipient’s Service Dog Receive Emergency Medical Treatment

It goes without saying that Staff Sergeant Ty Carter is a hero. For those of you not familiar with him, he is a Medal of Honor recipient whose bravery during the attack on COP Keating during the Battle of Kamdesh saved many American lives. Since then, he’s gotten out of the Army and has a service dog, Nala, as his companion.

Nala, a German Shepherd, had to undergo emergency surgery due to a herniated disk that was on the verge of severing her spinal cord. The surgery is not cheap, so the Carters have reached out for assistance via GoFundMe.

From GoFundMe:

Ty and I don’t have much; Certainly not enough to cover the bills of Nalas vet, surgery, and after care. But I cannot put a price tag on a dog that has been trained to keep Ty’s demons at bay. It saddens me that the government does not recognize service dogs as a form to treat PTS(D). She’s not simply a pet and has done more for Ty mentally and emotionally than any person in our lives.
I’m asking you to dig in your couch cushions, skip one Starbucks coffee indulgence, or simply share this with any dog lover, patriot, human with an oversized heart. We want to keep Nala on the road to recovery but we need help doing it.

Thank you
