Harvard Students Take And Miserably Fail The 1964 Louisiana Literacy Test

As some of you may know, "literacy" tests like this were administered in the early 1960's throughout the South as a means to deny minorities and immigrants the right to vote prior to the passage of the Voting Rights Act of 1965. Anyone unable to provide proof that they had attained above a 5th grade education was required to take it, which makes it literally ludicrous to think seeing some of the brightest college students in the world can't even come close to passing it. It should be noted, though, that the '64 Louisiana test these Harvard students take here is historically considered one of the more atypically difficult versions.
