Three former recruits of Louisville basketball have come forward and admitted to the NCAA that the Cardinals were, in fact, throwing those sex parties that had been reported back in October. A quick recap for those of you who haven’t been caught up on the Louisville scandal: former graduate assistant turned Director of Basketball Operations, Andre McGee, reportedly paid strippers to dance on recruits, and, separately, paid prostitutes to sleep with them.
Rick Pitino denies ever knowing about it. The prostitute boss, Katrina Powell, says everyone knew about it. A source close with the investigation says everyone knew about it. And Louisville banned themselves from the postseason just to save face.
The three recruits went into further detail with the NCAA and implied McGee was giving out more than just strippers and prostitutes.
“McGee gave the players a stack of dollar bills ranging from $200 to $500. Everybody in the room got the money — the recruits and the current members of the team. Not only that, but McGee himself had his own stack of dollar bills.
Well, if this turns out to be true then Louisville might be in some deep shit. Recruiting is a dog eat dog game and if you’re not going all out to get the best recruits then you’re going to be left in the dust with all the scraps. So I kinda respect the move by McGee to make sure he had some stacks himself to make it rain.
One other recruit, who was not identified as one of the three who went to the NCAA, also gave a look in at what these parties were like.
Another recruit, who ultimately signed to play elsewhere, said of the parties: “I knew they weren’t college girls. It was crazy. It was like I was in a strip club.”
That’s because you were in a strip club. Might be time to pour one out for Louisville basketball..
