Floyd “Money” Mayweather is one of the most polarizing figures in all of sports. The now retired lightweight boxing champion is notorious for flaunting his extreme wealth, his undefeated record, and his domestic violence trash talking anyone that crosses his path.

TMZ Sports reports that Mayweather had his house broken into and was robbed while he was out of town celebrating his 40th birthday with a who’s who crowd of celebrities.

Floyd Mayweather’s Vegas home was broken into this weekend while the boxer was in L.A. celebrating his 40th birthday … and we’re told thieves got away with $150k worth of stuff.

Law enforcement sources tell us it appears someone forced a door open into the home office in the back of the house and stole several purses.

Other sources connected to the investigation tell us there is also at least 1 expensive watch unaccounted for … and possibly other items missing.

Floyd was in L.A. for the past few days for his big 40th birthday mega-celebration with Justin Bieber, Mariah Carey and other famous friends.

I have to hand it to the crew that organized this heist: that’s some Ocean’s Eleven type planning right there. When you’re a celebrity that has paparazzi documenting your every move and you’re an egomaniac that can’t help but update your social feeds with constant updates of your life, criminal masterminds are sure to take note and wait for a prime opportunity to pounce on your unprotected house.

A 40th birthday bash was the perfect time to break into Floyd’s house and cash in on the watching and waiting process. You know Floyd was rolling deep to his own birthday party. Any mooch that would normally just spend the night on his couch raiding his liquor cabinet was forced to be by his side that evening to create the biggest entourage possible for Mayweather’s entrance. The coast was definitely clear for the burglar(s) upon arrival.

Even smarter was the reasonable takeaway. They don’t call him “Money” Mayweather for nothing, folks. The man is worth hundreds of millions. When you have that kind of bankroll, you don’t notice when a measly $150K is missing from your sock drawer. He just threw himself a birthday party where Mariah Carey and Justin Bieber performed; pocket change is the last of his worries. Furthermore, there’s no way it’s possible for Mayweather to recall everything of value he owns in that house and remember every nook and cranny in which he has cash stored away for a rainy day or when the IRS comes knocking for unclaimed income.

You do have to plan a better entry, though. Breaking a door down is for amateurs. I complimented your wits involved in only taking a taste for yourself to have the heist go otherwise unnoticed, but you can’t be leaving a busted-down door behind with that intent in mind. That defeats the whole purpose. If you’re going to leave any sign of entrance, you might as well go big and steal enough cash and valuables to cast off somewhere in the third world and call it a life.

The more I think about it, this wasn’t a robbery — this was a message. It is believed that one of Mayweather’s infamous watches was taken during the home invasion. Much has been made lately of a potential showdown between Mayweather and UFC champion Conor McGregor in the boxing ring. McGregor has been adamant about his willingness for the fight to occur, while Mayweather has stayed rather mum on the subject.

Don’t be surprised if McGregor takes to social media and posts a video of him staring at Mayweather’s watch as time ticks away on his challenge to Mayweather.
