The ever escalating arms race between Greek life, university housing, and off campus luxury living is an entertaining one. It seems like every other day there is a new, way too nice, outrageously luxurious manor for college students to live in. Remember that old “poor college student” stereotype? Yeah, that should probably be considered dead at this point. We’re living in nicer residences than most Americans.
One great example is Alpha Phi’s new house at Florida State University. Since they’ve only been on campus for two years now, having recolonized in 2011, they obviously needed a house near campus. After all, 15 other sororities have them, and let’s face it, everything in Greek life tends to be one big pissing contest, ergo, they need a house. In fact, they need a great house. By the looks of it, that’s what FSU Alpha Phi is about to have.
Though it’s still under construction, sorority sisters will move into the completed house on January 4th, just in time for the spring semester. In all, 44 Alpha Phis will be living in the house. According to some of the floor plans I’ve seen, they’ll have some pretty luxurious accommodations.
The Alpha Phi house will be located next to the Delta Gamma house, which I would give my left nut to live within ten blocks of, or haven’t you seen their bid day video?
The new APhi house features a massive foyer, a grand staircase, living rooms, dining areas, a sun deck, study areas, lounges, a huge chapter room with a stage (that I’m assuming will be able to double as a movie theater if there’s a projector in there), and of course, many bedrooms. Here, take a look for yourself:
I like to imagine that the gigantic, unlabeled right portion of the basement floor plan is for hazing. Sexy, sexy hazing.
Overall, I’d say the Alpha Phis at FSU are going to have a pretty nice house come January. Well done ladies.
