FSU starting quarterback and potential future owner of the coolest French name in the NFL, Deondre Francois (sorry, JPP and Pierre Garçon), has followed in the footsteps of Jameis Winston in completing what has become a rite of passage for all Florida State quarterbacks who want to succeed in the NFL as of late: throwing a football over the Florida State PIKE house.
Rumor has it former FSU QBs Christian Ponder and EJ Manuel (who was actually a member of FSU PIKE) both attempted to hurl a pigskin over the largest fraternity house in the country and failed — a concept paralleled by the short stints they call their NFL careers. Jameis Winston is the only FSU QB to have ever both attempted and completed the task, and also is the only one who’s found any success in the NFL. Coincidence? I think not. Here’s Jameis’ successful attempt back in 2013.
And Francois’ more recent attempt that has all but assured him future success in the NFL.
Why do you think Everett Golson is tossing the pigskin up in Canada right now, EJ Manuel is a freer agent than Michael Westen post-burn notice, and Christian Ponder is sitting around in San Francisco doing nothing except being a backup and having sex with Samantha Steele? That last one is probably a bad example, but still. If you’re an FSU QB and want success, you need to be able to throw a pigskin over them PIKEs. It’s a thing..
