One day after rushing for a season-high 52 yards against the Seattle Seahawks, Cowboys backup running back Joseph Randle was arrested for shoplifting from a suburban Dallas mall.

Cowboys fans and administrative personnel are left asking themselves, “What the fuck?” today, as they’re trying to fathom why a player making a base salary of $495,000 this year would steal a tester bottle of cologne valued around $80. According to TMZ, the cologne in question was Gucci Guilty Black, so that seems kind of fitting, I guess. Additionally, it’s reported that Randle also sought to walk away with some new Polo underwear valued at $40 in his heist from a Dillard’s department store.

Completely mind-numbing stuff, guys.

There’s literally no reason Randle could use to justify his actions. Given his current Cowboys contract, it’s pretty much morally reprehensible to think he would even consider doing this, let alone actually going through with it and thinking it’s okay to do, or that he’d possibly get away with it. According to ESPN Dallas journalist Jean-Jacques Taylor, the running back was set to receive a paycheck of $31,895.29 (before taxes, mind you) today.

Just let that sink in for a second.

This guy had FIVE touches all day on Sunday, and he walks away making more for his performance over the past week than most people you know will make in half a year’s time. Yet, he still feels the need to steal things that he could easily pay for without even realizing a change in his bank account ledger.

I don’t even care if it later surfaces that he had a friend or an acquaintance who provided the products to him pro bono and this was all just a misunderstanding; still, there’s no reason a guy holding a contract valued at more than $2 million doesn’t pay a measly $120 for cologne and underwear.

While Randle was charged with Class B theft in the range of $50 to $500 and released on bond in the early morning hours of Tuesday, I really hope the league reprimands the hell out of him. There’s just no place for that kind of classless action or thinking in society, and clearly Randle needs to learn that the hard way. I hate that he’s smiling in his fucking mugshot, too.
