Boston College To Honor Alumnus And 9/11 Hero “The Man In The Red Bandana” With Custom Red Bandana Football Accessories

Former Boston College lacrosse player Welles Crowther died while directing people to safety during the terrorist attack at the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. In the years following his death, Crowther’s selfless act of courage became a popular story to share on the anniversary of the terrible attacks.

When he played lacrosse at BC, Crowther was known for wearing a red bandana under his helmet — the same bandana he tied around his face while saving lives that fateful day. As word of his story grew, the red bandana became a symbol of Americans who rise to the occasion when faced with adversity.

To honor their fallen alumnus, Boston College football players will wear the red bandana pattern on several accessories when they take on Clemson this Saturday. The gear comes courtesy of Under Armour.

Be sure to watch ESPN’s documentary on Crowther below. It’s incredible.
