I never thought I’d see the day. The economy must really be in turmoil because McDonald’s is finally cracking down on what liquids go in their water cups. KHBS reports a man in Springdale, Arkansas was recently arrested after filling his water cup with… soda. What a monster!
Cody Morris, 18, was arrested Monday for putting soda inside a water cup at a Springdale McDonald’s, refusing to return the soda, according to the police report sent to 40/29 News.
The manager for the McDonald’s at 520 S. Thompson St. called police Monday to report a robbery, according to the report. The manager told police 3 people went through the drive thru and asked for 3 large waters. Those 3 parked, went into the restaurant, dumped out the water and then filled the cups with soda, the manager told police.
The manager asked the 3 people to return the soda. Two of them did, but one did not, the manager told police.
Whoa. This was not your normal, run-of-the-mill soda-pilfering operation. I’ve pulled the covert “ask for a water cup, fill it with Sprite or lemonade and then quietly go about your business” move, but this is next level shit. This was mapped out well beforehand and executed to near perfection.
They slipped up by assuming the dedicated McDonald’s manager wouldn’t be quite as devoted as he should be to his minimum wage job. This manager was aiming for McDonald’s manager of the year — the second highest honor that can be bestowed by McDonalds corporate, behind winning the McGangbang Eating World Championship.
Then, the manager stood behind the suspect’s car and tried to stop them from leaving, according to the report, but the car reversed and hit the manager. The manager tried to get the keys out of the ignition and was hit on the hand and then by the vehicle again, the manager told police.
Were these guys messing with a McDonald’s manager or fucking Batman?! Give this man $15 an hour!
Police eventually caught up to the vehicle, tracking it down to a local bowling alley — which somehow feels like a fitting end to this story. The alleged soda-stealing bastard, 18-year-old Cody Morris, was arrested and charged with felony robbery.
That $1.07 soda will likely turn into thousands of dollars in legal fees. This dude is gonna be ordering off the dollar menu for a long while..
