Alabama Sold Its Shattered BCS Crystal Football For $105,000 At Auction

Alabama’s crystal football — the one from the 2011 season when they stuck it to LSU in the title game — was shattered when the father of long snapper Carson Tinker knocked it off its stand into a thousand pieces. The value of the trophy was $30,000.

“It’s cool, this thing is insured. We’ll just get another one. For the hell of it, though, let’s see if someone will buy the broken one.”

So they did. And it sold. It sold at the UA Celebrity Golf Tournament for three and a half times what an intact BCS crystal football is valued at.

Bama fans, they’re real pieces of work.
